Contract Negotiator

Overview The D. E. Shaw group seeks a contract negotiator to join its Legal & Compliance team. The contract negotiator will play a key part in shaping agreements and supporting initiatives that drive the firm’s operations and growth. The role provides broad exposure to the firm's activities and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, collegial, and engaging environment.

What You'll Do Day-to-day

• Review, negotiate, and maintain various agreements with potential counterparties, vendors, and consultants, including confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements and engagement letters.
• Assist in related project-based work, including creating and maintaining various contract templates, training guidelines, and process documents.

Who We're Looking For

• A bachelor's degree is required, along with a demonstrated record of professional and/or academic achievement.
• One to three years of work experience and an interest in learning more about legal and commercial risks.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities; proven editing, proofreading, and project-management skills; and a keen attention to detail.
• The expected annual base salary for this position is $110,000 to $130,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
