MTS 2 - Backend, microservices

The Opportunity We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development with an affinity towards UX and design. They should be able to define and implement complex distributed system architectures, and be well-versed in both REST and GraphQL. They should posses a keen knowledge on Java, C, or C++, Python, FastAPI, SQLite; Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals

About The Team The FleX team is a critical engineering group within Nutanix’s R&D Platform organization, dedicated to providing a seamless hardware enablement and qualification ecosystem that allows both Nutanix and its external partners to qualify new hardware components and platforms independently

Your Role Design and develop scalable, distributed systems and web-scale applications

Take ownership of new feature development, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery

Build a scalable application that enables test certification, BOM creation, orchestration of test frameworks, and result analytics

Design and implement clean REST and GraphQL APIs

Keen knowledge on Java, C, or C++, Python, FastAPI, SQLite

Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals

Collaborate closely with product and design teams to create a consumer-grade user experience for industry-shaping products

Work with Platforms Development, Test, Documentation, and Product Management teams to deliver high-quality products in a fast-paced environment

Engage with customers and support when needed to tackle production issues

Bridge the gap between requirements and implementation, communicate with stakeholders, anticipate issues, and improve end-to-end workflows

Leverage existing GenAI technologies like cursor and claude to enhance efficiency and productivity

What You Will Bring 3+ years of relevant experience in software engineering

BS/Masters in Computer Science or related field

Strong background in backend development with an affinity towards UX and design

Ability to define and implement complex distributed system architecture

Expertise in both REST and GraphQL

Excellent communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders to clarify requirements and anticipate issues

Strong sense of ownership and an eye for design

Proficiency in using GenAI technologies like cursor/claude

Experience with relational database architecture, schema, and queries

Proficiency in Java or Python for enterprise-quality software development

Working knowledge of Git and exposure to Agile methodologies

Understanding of microservices and containerized technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

Work Arrangement Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
